Hi, I'm Erin Hodgson.
Lubbock-raised and Austin-based, I've been a self-taught photographer since 2017 when I first picked up a camera for high school's yearbook staff. My style prioritizes vibrant colors, bold contrast, sharpness and lots of bokeh, and I lean towards blues and oranges in post-processing. I don't heavily photoshop to make my images "perfect" because I'm more interested in capturing environments and emotions as they truly appear and are experienced.
About Me!
Some fun facts, quirks, and important things that make me, well, me! Just as I get to know you so I can capture the essence of who you are in my images, this is a brief introduction to me and what I'm about. :)
“I love to travel! Experiencing new cultures, languages, foods, and people brings me joy! I've found that it's the medium in which God speaks to me most often, and I love reflecting that in my photos.
I take inspiration from Anthony Bourdain in that "if I'm an advocate for anything, it's to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. The extent to which you can walk in somebody else’s shoes–or at least eat their food–it’s a plus for everybody."”
“I'm a graduate of Abilene Christian University where I studied International Relations, German Language, and Global Studies! I aspire to work in foreign relations in one avenue or another, and I'm fluent in German and proficient in Spanish. I would like to learn Russian next!
I recently undertook a Fulbright grant in Germany, and am now pursuing a Master of Global Policy Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.”
“I'm a lover of the arts! I I enjoy listening to ALL kinds of music, I love to paint and write poetry, and to read; I'd consider myself a renaissance woman of sorts with an old soul. If we just stop to paint them and write about them and simply admire, we'll find that the best of life lies within the arts :)”
A few of my favorite things...
The Sound of Music (my ALL time favorite movie) Topo Chico! Bouldering. Going through old photo books. Going down a Wikipedia rabbit hole. Germany! Reading a good book. Brussel sprouts ;) Watercolor paints. Downton Abbey! Sunsets on my drive home. The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Chamomile tea! Taking photos of people (a given).
